Bli Bli Locals say ‘Goodbye’ to Atkinson Road after nearly 50 years

By Madison O'Mara
A true “Bli Bli” local, Ray was born in Nambour Hospital and grew up in the area and June, his wife, Beaudesert. They married in 1973 and Ray being a builder, built their home at 90 Atkinson Rd shortly after (well it started shortly after, but as it goes when it’s your own house, it tends to take a very long time to finish!). One of the first houses built on Atkinson Rd, they watched as each house in the street was built over the years. They raised their children in the home, made many lovely friends in neighbours and have loved living here. When Ray’s health started to decline, they decided with much regret, it was time to downsize. With many obstacles in the way, operations, illness, June broke her wrist, Covid 19….plans were delayed. When they were feeling up to it, Natasha Hackenberg from Ray White Bli Bli was called in to work on a plan to get the property sold.
With nearly fifty years of accumulated belongings, the task of downsizing was massive! They held garage sales for weeks on end (many thanks to all the neighbours that supported and bought items) and took many loads to the tip! After weeks of hard work and decluttering, the house was empty and ready to be staged (A big thank you to Bli Bli Local, Brodie, from Dream Home Removals that did us a huge favour and came to move the piano, what a legend!). What a fabulous result, a beautiful, well maintained home was brought to life with some modern furnishings that just ‘put the icing on the cake’.
An ‘Expressions of Interest’ campaign saw 21 groups inspect the property over a two week period and generated 8 offers, many of which landed in the vicinity of the sale price..
A fabulous result for Ray & June, $1,300,000, sold to a lovely local buyer from Coolum.
Natasha said, “I am so lucky to have the privilege of being involved in such a transaction where all parties are beautiful people and deserving of good things.”

Ray and June

The Sellers achieved a great result with the sale and the buyer has purchased a beautiful home that she can enjoy for years to come, it’s a win, win for everyone.
Settlement needed to be moved forward slightly as Ray was scheduled for some major surgery which was pretty risky, but we are very pleased to announce, the surgery was successful and Ray is recovering well, YAY!! He still dreams of his magnificent view of Mount Coolum, that spiritual place that has been a huge part of their lives, and together, Ray & June are looking forward to the next chapter.
